What will you study in Nursing?

Nurses work in various settings including hospitals, clinics, schools, and community centers. Their roles range from direct patient care to education, research, and advocating for health policy. 

Nursing is also about providing emotional support and guidance to patients and their families from understanding chronic illnesses to coping with life and death situations. Nurses’ knowledge of diseases, combined with strong communication skills, brings comfort and stability to patients during difficult times. 

What skills will you acquire from studying Nursing? 

Patient Care Skills This includes taking vital signs, administering medications, conducting basic physical assessments, wound care, and assisting with hygiene and patient comfort. 

Emergency Care Skills Nurses are trained to handle urgent situations such as performing CPR, basic life support (BLS), and assisting in emergency rooms. 

Infection Control Skills Proper hand hygiene, wearing and removing personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining a sterile environment are essential for ensuring patient safety. 

Communication Skills Nurses must effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. This involves active listening, explaining medical procedures, and offering emotional support. 

Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills Nurses need to assess situations, identify problems, and make informed decisions, often under pressure. 

Teamwork Skills Nurses are part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with doctors, therapists, and other healthcare providers. 

Empathy and Compassion Caring for vulnerable patients requires empathy, compassion, and the ability to respond to their emotional needs.
