University of Essex
The University of Essex received its royal charter in 1965 and now with over 15,000 students this is an internationally diverse university delivering excellence in research and education since its formation over 50 years ago. The university is spread over three campuses in Colchester, Southend and Loughton, the largest is based in beautiful parkland at Colchester, while all three are less than one hour from London. The courses available are organised into three faculties: humanities, science and health and social science. Within these three faculties there are 20 different schools and departments.
At Essex, students are taught by world-leading academics in a supportive and research-intensive environment. Accolades include receiving the gold award in the governments Teaching Excellence Framework, they were also named University of the Year under the prestigious Times Higher Education Awards in 2018, with the university praised for their determination to do things differently and put student success at the centre of everything they do.
