As mentioned earlier, Monash University has four campuses in Melbourne. The One Education team would like to introduce the two most popular campuses among students: Caulfield Campus and Clayton Campus.

Caulfield Campus

Monash University Caulfield Campus

Caulfield Campus is located around 20 minutes from Melbourne CBD, the city’s main business district, and is easily accessible by train. Whether students live near Clayton Campus or around Caulfield Campus, travelling to this campus is convenient and straightforward.

Courses offered at Caulfield Campus include Art and Design, Architecture, and Business and Management (selected programmes). The campus has approximately 19,000 students and around 1,000 academic and teaching staff. Students can enjoy a wide range of facilities, including food outlets, student activities, and a well-equipped gym. One of the key advantages of Caulfield Campus is its ease of navigation, as it is more compact than Clayton Campus. Students who need to travel between campuses can use the university’s free shuttle bus, which takes around 10 minutes.

Clayton Campus

Monash University Clayton Campus

Clayton Campus is the main campus of Monash University, where the majority of undergraduate students study. The campus has approximately 38,000 students and around 8,000 academic and teaching staff. Despite its large size, the average class size is relatively small, with around 28–33 students per lecturer. However, in the first year or for certain subjects, classes may be delivered in a lecture format alongside students from other disciplines, typically with 180–250 students.

Clayton Campus offers a vibrant student experience, with a wide range of on-campus facilities. These include a gym, a newly built swimming pool, sports facilities, a cinema, restaurants, bars, a post office, medical and health services, hair salons, and a supermarket.

The campus even has its own postcode, making it feel like a small city in itself. Many students are drawn to Clayton Campus for its lively lifestyle and well-equipped learning environment.

Importantly, Monash accommodation is not limited to undergraduate students—postgraduate students are also eligible to stay in university residences.

Monash University offers everything students need, especially for those living at Monash University Clayton Campus. Staying in university accommodation allows students to meet new people, take part in campus activities, and become fully involved in university life. It also helps students adapt more smoothly to living abroad, which can be challenging at the beginning due to a new environment and unfamiliar surroundings. Living on campus makes it much easier to socialise and build friendships.

Students can apply for university accommodation even before receiving an offer from Monash University, as rooms are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and tend to fill up quickly. The One Education team strongly recommends booking accommodation as early as possible.

For students who prefer living off campus, Melbourne offers a wide range of private student accommodation options, including residences in the city centre or suburban areas. Students can choose to rent a private room or share with friends. If you’re unsure where to start, Urbanest is a trusted partner of the university and provides excellent student accommodation options across Melbourne.
