The University of Sydney is one of Australia’s leading universities and a member of the prestigious Group of Eight. Founded in 1850, it is also Australia’s oldest university. In the QS World University Rankings 2027, the University of Sydney is ranked 28th in the world and among the top universities in Australia.

For 2027, the University of Sydney offers several scholarship opportunities for international students. In this article, the One Education team has rounded up three key scholarships to help students explore their options and plan their studies at the University of Sydney with greater confidence.

1. Sydney International Student Award

Scholarship Value: 20% tuition fee contribution for the duration of the course
Study Level: Undergraduate and postgraduate coursework

Eligibility:

• Be an international student and hold citizenship from one of the countries or regions listed by the University of Sydney. Thailand is included in the eligible countries.
• Receive an offer of admission to a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree.
• The scholarship is available to new students commencing their studies in 2027, subject to the applicable intake and scholarship terms.
• Applicants for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Executive MBA (EMBA) are not eligible.
• The scholarship is also not available for Study Abroad, Executive Education, distance-learning programs, or Law Dual Degree pathway programs.
• Applicants must submit a personal statement as part of the application process.

2. Sydney International Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship 

Scholarship Value: 100% tuition fee coverage
Study Level: Undergraduate

Eligibility:

• Open exclusively to international students.
• Applicants must apply for an eligible undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney.
• Applicants must have completed secondary school or a recognised Foundation Program.
• The scholarship does not cover combined degrees with a Master’s qualification, the Bachelor of Arts (Dual Degree, Sciences Po, France), Bachelor of Economics (Dual Degree, Sciences Po, France), or degrees that include a Bachelor of Advanced Studies.
• This is a highly competitive scholarship and is renewable. Recipients must maintain the academic performance required by the University of Sydney to continue receiving the scholarship.

3. Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships Scheme

Scholarship Value: Up to AUD 60,000, depending on the applicant’s qualifications
Study Level: Undergraduate and postgraduate coursework

Eligibility:

• Open to international students.
• Applicants must apply for an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree.
• Applicants must receive an Unconditional Offer from the University of Sydney by the relevant application deadline.
• No separate scholarship application is required. Eligible applicants are automatically considered based on their application and academic merit.

  • Round 1: 17 August 2026
  • Round 2: 5 October 2026
  • Round 3: 16 November 2026
• Semester 2, 2027
  • Round 1: 15 February 2027
  • Round 2: 22 March 2027
  • Round 3: 3 May 2027
