University of Salford was originally known as the Royal College of Advanced Technology, formed through the merger of several technical colleges and institutions that grew out of the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century. It officially became the University of Salford in 1967. 

The university is located in the city of Salford, within Greater Manchester, England. Today, the University of Salford is a globally recognised institution with over 23,000 students, 2,500 academic and professional staff, and more than 170,000 alumni worldwide.

Campus 

The University of Salford’s campus is situated in Salford, a city in Greater Manchester in the northwest of England. Students can easily travel to Manchester city centre by bus, tram, train, or even by scooter. Travelling to other cities or abroad is also convenient – London is just 2 hours away by train, Liverpool 50 minutes, and Edinburgh around 3.5 hours. 

The campus offers a wide range of activities beyond academics, including sports, fitness facilities, and various clubs and societies. At the heart of the campus and inside the Allerton building, students will find shops selling essential items for student life.
