University of Birmingham
The University of Birmingham is the first “red brick” university in England. It was formed through the merger of Queen’s College Birmingham, a medical school under royal patronage, and Mason Science College, established by Queen Victoria in 1900. As a founding member of the Russell Group and Universitas 21, the University of Birmingham is widely recognized as a world-leading institution with a long-standing reputation for academic excellence and innovation.
Location
The university’s main campus, Edgbaston, brings together world-class learning facilities and vibrant student life — all surrounded by beautiful greenery and a picturesque lake. The campus is just 3 kilometres from Birmingham city centre, offering both convenience and a peaceful environment.
Birmingham, the second-largest city in the UK after London, is a dynamic and diverse hub full of energy. It’s well connected by public transport, home to Birmingham International Airport, and hosts year-round festivals and events. With an average population age of around 25 years old, and over 40% of residents under 30, Birmingham is considered one of Europe’s youngest cities — making it an exciting and inspiring place to study and live.
International students are guaranteed university accommodation in their first year, ensuring a smooth transition to life in the UK. Being in a major city also provides excellent part-time job and career opportunities for students.
