Murdoch University
Murdoch University is an Australian university that was established in 1973 as a research-oriented institution of higher education located in Perth. It first opened its doors for teaching in 1975 with 510 undergraduate students enrolled. The university is a member of the Innovative Research Universities (IRU), Open Universities Australia (OUA), and Universities Australia (UA) consortium.
As a university that advocates for freedom of thought, Murdoch University started as a centre for learning, teaching, research, and industry. Its inclusive approach to education has gained recognition from graduates, and its research and innovation have been acknowledged both in Western Australia and around the world.
Location
Murdoch University has five campuses, three of which are located in Western Australia – Perth (main campus), Mandurah, and Rockingham – and two international campuses in Dubai and Singapore. The primary and most extensive location of the institution is the Perth campus, which spans more than 1,400 acres and features facilities for humanities, social sciences, education, economics, and commerce. The southern section of the campus contains an animal farm, regular farm, and a wind turbine centre. The campus prioritises sustainability and houses the Harry Butler Institute, which is committed to environmental research and conservation.
Murdoch University provides a diverse learning environment, opportunities for collaboration, and various sports clubs, including tennis, football, basketball, hockey, volleyball, and badminton. These clubs manage university teams that represent the university in various inter-university competitions, under the mascot Victor the Viking.
