Yuki
Course: MSc Finance
Institution: Northumbria University
Please introduce yourself – what did you study before going to the UK?
Hello, my name is Yuki. Before pursuing my Master’s degree, I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Technology Management (International Programme) from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang.
Why did you choose to study in the UK?
My decision to study in the UK was mainly because I had previously taken a language course there during my first year and really liked it. The people were friendly, and the quality of life was good. Another reason is that Master’s programmes in the UK only take one year, which suited me as I did not want to study for too long.
Why did you choose this university and what impressed you during your studies?
I chose Northumbria University because it is located close to the city centre, and I also chose it based on the city itself. Newcastle is very much a student city. It is peaceful and not too crowded, but on Friday and Saturday nights, it becomes lively and full of energy. The city has everything you need, including many restaurants and even plenty of Thai food options. There is also a wide range of accommodation available. Newcastle is a relatively large city with an airport, making it convenient to travel.
What impressed me about Northumbria University Newcastle is that it is quite a large university with a wide range of faculties and excellent facilities for students.
Why did you choose this programme?
I chose MSc Finance because I already had some background in management from my undergraduate studies. I wanted to build on that knowledge and apply it to my family business, which is in real estate.
I believe finance is essential in today’s world, as everything revolves around money. Even if I do not continue in the family business, having a finance background opens up many career opportunities. I believe that studying finance provides strong job security, as every company needs finance professionals.
How has this course helped your career after graduation?
After completing the course, I plan to look for a job in the finance field, possibly working for a finance-related company. I am also interested in investing in stocks as a side activity, as studying finance provides a solid understanding of how markets work. There are many subjects within the course that can be applied in real life after graduation.
How did our service and team help you with your study abroad journey?
One Education provided excellent support. They were very attentive and continuously shared information until I was able to make a decision. They offered a wide range of university options and provided thoughtful advice throughout. Even if my grades did not fully meet the requirements for a particular university, they encouraged me to try applying rather than discouraging me. I could ask them about anything, whether it was related to studying, working, or living in the UK.
Their guidance was very helpful, and I would definitely recommend them to others. They supported me in every aspect and were there to help at every step, right up until my departure.
