Course: Master of Environmental Management and Development
Institution: Australian National University
Please tell us about yourself – what course and institute did you study before going to Australia?
Before going to Australia, I completed my Bachelor of Laws at Mae Fah Luang University.
Why did you choose to study in Australia?
I chose to pursue my master’s degree in Australia because universities there prepare students with both academic knowledge and practical skills in their chosen fields. They also help students develop essential skills that improve future employment opportunities.
Why did you choose this institute and what is your memorable experience at the institute?
I chose the Australian National University because the course content focuses on Environmental Development and Management in Australia. The programme offers subjects such as Environmental Challenges, Environmental Governance, and Environmental Management.
This provides both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, enabling students to better understand and respond to current environmental challenges.
Why did you choose this course?
While working with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), I developed a strong interest in environmental issues. I became motivated to contribute to solving climate change and environmental problems.
With my background in law, I wanted to learn how legal frameworks and policies can be applied to address environmental issues. However, legal knowledge alone is not sufficient to solve these challenges in Thailand. I wanted to gain a broader understanding of environmental management from different perspectives.
In addition, my experience working on the Plan International Safe School project in Northern Thailand, which aimed to strengthen disaster risk reduction, further inspired me to pursue a master’s degree in Environmental Management and Development.
How will your degree help your future career after graduation?
I believe that the Environmental Management and Development programme at the Australian National University will help me develop both knowledge and expertise in environmental management and policy.
It will equip me with skills in areas such as environmental governance, sustainability transitions, climate change, energy transition, carbon reduction, and environmental impact assessment. These are essential for developing effective and sustainable policies, particularly for work in international organisations such as the United Nations.
The knowledge and skills gained from this programme will be highly valuable in contributing to environmental policy development and solving environmental issues in Thailand.
What did you like the most about our service and your counsellor?
P’Gig provided valuable guidance throughout the entire process, including university applications, document preparation, and especially writing my Statement of Purpose. She also coordinated with university staff to follow up on my application and scholarship opportunities.
In addition, she answered all my questions regarding applications, post-study visa options, and internship opportunities.
Beyond the university application process, she also assisted with my student visa application, including preparing required documents, completing the Genuine Student form, and drafting supporting letters. She also provided advice on accommodation and helped follow up on university housing applications.
Her support made the entire process much smoother and much easier to manage.
