Course: MSc Energy Engineering and Environmental Management
Institution: University of East Anglia
Please tell us about yourself – what course and institute did you study before going to the UK?
I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.
Why did you choose to study in the UK?
The UK and many European countries have strong policies on achieving net zero emissions, which inspired me to pursue my studies there. The UK offers up-to-date engineering knowledge, advanced technological facilities, and opportunities to learn from professionals in multinational companies.
Studying in the UK also challenged me to study engineering in a different language and environment, while allowing me to learn alongside students from all over the world and gain diverse perspectives.
Why did you choose this university and what is your memorable experience at the university?
I believed that my passion and motivation in engineering would allow me to gain a lot from studying at the University of East Anglia, and that has proven to be true even halfway through the course.
UEA has provided me with opportunities to develop essential knowledge, skills, and perspectives in energy and environmental engineering. The modules combine lectures, seminars, and practical sessions, encouraging discussion and hands-on learning.
The lecturers are very supportive, and the university also offers additional support such as free English language classes and one-to-one academic consultations. There are many student services available, including career support, mental health services, and a wide range of student societies.
There is also a newly built laboratory equipped with modern technology, such as robotics and 3D printing. In addition, students have opportunities to visit industrial sites, as Norwich is located near several offshore facilities.
Why did you choose this course?
The MSc Energy Engineering and Environmental Management programme provides a strong foundation in technical skills, including thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, supported by modern laboratory facilities.
Students can also choose from a wide range of modules, covering various energy sectors such as solar, wind, oil and gas, nuclear, and other renewable energy sources. The course content is closely aligned with current and future industry trends, including simulation software, economic analysis, and political factors.
How will your degree help your future career after graduation?
The programme is accredited by the Energy Institute, allowing students to apply for membership, which enhances career opportunities. There are also initiatives such as the Engineering Partnership Scheme, where students can apply for roles with industry partners and work on related dissertation projects.
The university also invites industry professionals to give lectures and allows students to present their work, helping to build presentation skills and professional connections.
What did you like the most about our service and your counsellor?
One Education provided excellent guidance and support throughout the entire process. They assisted with applications, liaised with the university, advised on scholarships, arranged accommodation, and handled my visa. Even after I arrived in the UK, they continued to support me at every stage. When I was unwell, they still checked in and helped me. I truly felt that they never left me on my own. I am very grateful to both of them for their care and support in making my study abroad journey possible.
