Course: MSc Energy Engineering and Environmental Management
Institution: University of East Anglia
Please tell us about yourself – what course and institute did you study before going to the UK?
I graduated from the faculty of Chemical Engineering at the King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.
Why did you choose to study in the UK?
Due to the zero-emission target in the UK and other environmental policies all across countries in Europe. I decided to study in this country that provides me with up-to-date engineering theories, high-tech facilities as well as consulting from engineers in international companies which will be useful for the strong renewable energy background that can be applied in my future career path. Moreover, I have challenged myself to study engineering within different languages along with my international coursemates leading to the exchanges of sustainable perspectives on a global scale.
Why did you choose this institute and what is your memorable experience at the institute?
I believe that my motivation, inspiration and excellent engineering knowledge will promote my effective learning at this university. I have got so many impressions from the uni so far even I just went to half of the course. The university and supervisors give me an opportunity to improve my postgraduate knowledge to enhance my skills and perspective, which is needed to achieve my career goals and gain an insight into energy conservation. In an aspect of science, each module usually consists of lectures, seminars and laboratories which support students to perform the technical discussion, practical work and better understanding of each topic.
Every lecturer always genuinely gives help on the studying, coursework and further great opportunities and resource related to the contents. There is additional session relating to study issues provided such as language skill support (no fees courses), meeting with supervisors every semester etc. There are also plenty of departments that especially support other kinds no matter career support, mental health, gender identity, sports, entertainments (clubs, pubs, bars) even having dog therapists. hahaha, it’s getting too long now and I could talk all day to explain how the University of East Anglia have been amazed me.
Why did you chose this course?
The course provides key material in a compulsory module that brings students up to the same level in technical skills, thermodynamics, fluid mechanisms supported by hands-on work in our modern laboratory facilities. There is a new modern laboratory building that finished the construction this year that included smart robots, high-spec 3D printing, etc., especially for engineering students. Students can widely look into several fields through course modules are consists of all kinds of energy engineering no matter, solar, wind turbine, oil and gas, nuclear plant and other renewable energy.
Furthermore, all are adapted with software simulations, current and future market, economic analysis and political factors. The university provides plant visits since Norwich has many offshore sites. There will be a team exercise that culminates in a presentation to professionals.
How will your degree help your future career after graduation?
As I said, this course is accredited by the Energy Institution and the students could apply for membership to promote better career opportunities. There is an engineering partnership scheme provided in which all students will be scheduled to have interviews with industrial companies who are interested (after submitted CV) as well as providing the industrial-based or industrial-linked dissertations that will lead to offing other career opportunities afterwards. Some of the contents in modules are taught by invited engineers and also, students have presentations (through assigned coursework and dissertation presentation) will the special guests from industrial firms. These could promote the technical presentation skills of students also providing many opportunities to network with charted and master engineers.
What did you like the most about our service and your counsellor?
P’Joy & P’Otto at One Education helped me on applying, scholarship, studying, accommodation, student visa and other additional supports. They also provided me beneficial cooperation with university as well as the useful seminars. With my interest in studying abroad, they have supported me in every single step from minor to major from the point I got offers to when I departed from Thailand. Even when I was sick while staying in the UK, I could say the studying here wouldn’t be this easy without their assistance. I could confirm that they passionately guide students to the best way for studying abroad. I would like to say thank you P’Joy & P’Otto again for their kindly support, care, and work hard for me.
