University for the Creative Arts (UCA) is the second-largest creative education institution in Europe and a specialist university dedicated to creative arts, with over 165 years of history. The university focuses on creativity and integrates knowledge across various artistic disciplines. The MA Jewellery programme combines both traditional and contemporary techniques, with a focus on designing and producing jewellery suitable for everyday wear and fashion trends. The course is primarily studio-based, supported by lecturers and industry specialists who act as tutors throughout the programme. This course is taught at the Farnham Campus, London, located about 30 minutes by car from Heathrow Airport. The campus offers extensive facilities and equipment within the Jewellery Studio, including: Rolling mills, Tool rooms, Lathes and grinding machines, Band saws, Chemical labs for engraving, polishing, colouring, and enamelling, Dedicated areas for silverwork and wax modelling In addition, the campus is home to the Crafts Study Centre, which includes a museum, research centre, and crafts gallery within the university.

3. MA Design (Jewellery and Metalwork) – Sheffield Hallam University

Sheffield Hallam University is a large university located in Sheffield, with over 31,000 students per year from 120 countries worldwide. It offers more than 700 courses, ranging from foundation programmes to undergraduate, postgraduate, and research degrees. The university emphasises practical learning through live projects and field trips to help students gain real-world experience, and it collaborates with many leading industry partners.

The MA Design (Jewellery and Metalwork) programme includes core modules such as Critical Making – Jewellery and Metalwork, Material Research, Theory and Practice, and the MA Jewellery and Metalwork Project.

The teaching approach focuses on hands-on, project-based learning, supported by dedicated studios and advanced facilities. These include 3D printing for rapid prototyping, modern tools and software, and laser cutting equipment suitable for various design disciplines such as metalwork, fashion, ceramics, wood, and plastics.
