RMIT stands for Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. This university is located in Melbourne and was established in 1887. Currently, RMIT University is one of the largest universities in Australia, with more than 90,000 students in total. The university offers both vocational and higher education programmes. Therefore, no matter where students come from or what field they want to study, this university has programmes that meet students’ needs. The university has a total of 5 campuses. In Australia, there are 3 campuses: Melbourne Campus, Bundoora Campus, and Brunswick Campus. There are also 2 campuses in Vietnam.

RMIT University is ranked among the 🏆 Top 1% of universities in the world and is ranked in the Top 30 best young universities globally by the Times Higher Education Young University Ranking 2025. In addition, the university is ranked No.4 in Australia for graduate employability. As mentioned, the university has 3 campuses in Australia. The first campus is located in Melbourne CBD. The second campus is Bundoora, which is about 20 kilometres from the city centre. This campus focuses on engineering and science-related programmes. The last campus is Brunswick, which is the smallest campus and is dedicated to students studying fashion, design, and textile design. In addition, the university also has 2 campuses in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Vietnam.

During their studies, students can transfer to any campus of the university, both in Melbourne and in Vietnam.

📍 Melbourne City Campus

Most students study at the Melbourne campus, except those studying engineering and health sciences. Students at this campus will truly experience living in the centre of Melbourne, and it is the largest campus of RMIT University.

📍 Bundoora Campus

Students who study engineering, health sciences, or related fields will study at the Bundoora campus. One of the main reasons this campus is located outside the city is because it has more space for buildings and facilities, such as science laboratories and engineering workshops. It is also designed with safety in mind. In addition, Bundoora is the only campus that offers university accommodation.

📍 Brunswick Campus

The Brunswick campus is specifically for fashion and textile design students. Therefore, it is the smallest campus, with only around 2,500 students.

Civil and Structural Engineering and Electrical Engineering are among the Top 120 in the world. Fields include Aerospace Engineering & Aviation, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical and Electronic, Engineering Management, Environment & Sustainable, Mechanical & Automotive, and Mechatronics & Manufacturing Systems.

Architecture

Design

Biomedical Sciences

Research at the university is rated above world standard by ARC in Clinical Sciences, Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medical Physiology, and Microbiology. RMIT is also the only university in Victoria offering subjects such as Hematology, Anatomical Pathology, Medical Microbiology, Clinical Biochemistry, and Transfusion and Transplantation Sciences. Fields include Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, Laboratory, Pharmacy, and Pharmaceutical Science.

Health & Science

Research is rated above world standard in Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medical Physiology, and Physical Sciences. The university also provides modern facilities used in clinics and hospitals. RMIT is also the only university in Victoria offering Traditional Chinese Medicine. Fields include Complementary Medicine, Dental Studies, Medical Radiations, Nursing, Optical Dispensing, Pharmacy, Psychology, and Sport Science.

Computer Science & IT

Computer Science and Information Systems programmes are ranked in the Top 150 globally. Research in AI and computing is also rated above world standard. Fields include Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, and Software Engineering.

MBA

RMIT offers two MBA programmes: a standard MBA and an Executive MBA. Applicants for the Executive MBA must have at least 5 years of work experience and management experience, along with a reference letter from their employer. IELTS requirement: 6.5–7.0 depending on the programme.

Data Science

The Master of Data Science is a 2-year programme. Applicants must have at least IELTS 6.5. In the first year, there are no elective subjects. Students without a background in programming or IT may need to study basic Python beforehand. In the second year, students can choose 3 subjects from 5 options. Most students choose Big Data Processing, and they can also choose Machine Learning or Data Mining depending on their interests.

Training is provided to ensure students can apply their knowledge in real work situations and develop essential soft skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and communication.
