Thinking of studying Law in the UK? Don’t miss the University of Bristol Law School – one of the UK’s top 10 and most prestigious law schools. One Education have interviewed a professor from Bristol Law School and gathered valuable insights just for you!
Hello, I’m Professor Oliver Quick, Professor of Health Law and Policy at the University of Bristol Law School, and the International Director of the faculty. I’m involved in selecting international students for our programmes and ensuring they have the best possible academic and personal experience while studying at Bristol.
Why Should You Study Law at the University of Bristol Law School?
University of Bristol Law School is one of the best law schools—not just in the United Kingdom, but also globally. The University of Bristol is ranked 51st in the world according to the QS World University Rankings 2026, and the Law School has consistently been ranked among the Top 10 Law Schools in the UK.
In addition, we are proud to be highly ranked in two key areas:
- 3rd in the UK for Research Quality
- 5th in the UK for Graduate Employability
These achievements reflect the school’s strong academic foundation, impactful legal research, and excellent career outcomes for graduates. We celebrated our 90th anniversary last year — the University of Bristol Law Faculty was established in 1933. Currently, we have around 400 undergraduate students and 300 postgraduate students, including international students from over 40 countries worldwide.
This creates a highly diverse and vibrant academic environment. We are also fortunate to be located in one of the most beautiful law school buildings in the world, the iconic Memorial Building.

At the University of Bristol, our teaching style emphasizes small group learning, which is something we take great pride in. Our seminar groups never exceed 20 students, ensuring that each student receives individual attention and support from the lecturer. This creates a close-knit learning environment that fosters active participation and meaningful discussion.
At the postgraduate level, we offer 12 different LLM programmes, covering a wide range of legal fields, including Commercial Law, Banking Law, International Law, and Health Law, which is my area of expertise.
Bristol offers a very collaborative and supportive academic atmosphere. There is a strong sense of partnership between staff and students, and it truly is a great place to study law.
