Attractions in Rockhampton

Rockhampton Zoo

The zoo, which is free to visit, is home to a variety of local Australian animals and over 31 rare species. It also houses the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens, one of the oldest botanical gardens in Australia.

Capricorn Caves

The 33-hectare limestone cave, formed from coral remains accumulated over millions of years, was discovered and owned by the Olsen family. It has since become one of the oldest tourist attractions in Queensland.

Mount Archer

One of the national parks on the Berserker Range, which serves as the backdrop for Rockhampton, offers a viewpoint 604 meters above sea level. From here, visitors can enjoy views of the Fitzroy River, the city’s main river.

Blackdown Tableland National Park

A national park covering over 47,000 hectares, featuring valleys, rock pools, waterfalls, beautiful viewpoints, ancient indigenous wall sculptures, and also serving as the home of the Ghungalu people.
