University of the Arts London (UAL)

The University of the Arts London (UAL) was established in 1894 under an organization known as the St Brides Foundation Institute, which was originally founded to provide specialized education in printing. Later, in 1954, artist and designer Tom Eckersley introduced the undergraduate degree in graphic design, making the institution the first in the United Kingdom to specialize in art and design across multiple disciplines. In 1962, the university relocated to Elephant and Castle and changed its name to London College of Printing. Over the years, the college continuously developed its teaching, particularly in photography, film, and public relations, leading to another name change in 2004 to London College of Communication in order to reflect the diversity of its academic programs.

More recently, in 2017, the university launched modern technology-focused programs such as Game Design and Virtual Reality, alongside traditional programs including film, television, and animation. These programs were introduced through the Screen School, an institution within the London College of Communication at the University of the Arts London.
