University of Plymouth
University of Plymouth was originally established as the School of Navigation in 1862. It is located in the city of Plymouth, along the beautiful coastline of South Devon, and is considered one of the largest universities in the southwest of England. The University of Plymouth is well known for its research excellence, with many of its research outputs recognized as “World-leading” or “Internationally Excellent” by the Research Excellence Framework in 2021. University of Plymouth continues to develop and innovate, including the use of modern tools and advanced technologies in teaching and learning. The university has also invested in improving its campus facilities, including the construction of the Marine Station, House & Welling Centre, as well as Incubation buildings and a wide range of facilities for students across different faculties.
Currently, the university has approximately 30,000 students, including around 2,000 international students, and more than 176,000 alumni worldwide. In addition, the university maintains partnerships with many leading educational institutions both within the United Kingdom and internationally.
Campuses
The University of Plymouth has two campuses: Main Campus and North Campus. The Main Campus serves as the university’s primary campus and is home to the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business, Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Faculty of Health, as well as the Marine Station and the Students’ Union.
The North Campus is located to the north of the main campus, close to Derriford Hospital. This campus houses the Peninsula Allied Health Centre, a facility dedicated to the study of Dietetic, Occupational Therapy, Operating Department Practice, and Physiotherapy. It also provides specialized facilities for medical and dental education at Plymouth Science Park.
