SOAS University of London is a member of the University of London federation. It was originally established in 1916 as a specialist school for Oriental Studies and later expanded to include African and Middle Eastern studies. As a member of the University of London, SOAS is centrally located in London, at Russell Square in Bloomsbury, a historic hub of literature and culture.
