Fern
Course: MSc Marketing and Customer Psychology
Institution: University of Sussex
Please tell us about yourself – what course and institute did you study before going to the UK?
Hello~ My name is Fern. I graduated from Thammasat University with a degree in Sociology and Anthropology.
Why did you choose to study in the UK?
I wanted to broaden my perspective and open up my worldview. One of the reasons I chose the UK is because Master’s programmes can be completed within one year, which suits someone approaching their thirties like me. As we get older, we sometimes feel our energy and capacity are not quite the same as when we were younger.
I also had the impression that people in the UK are generally polite, based on what I read in the book Watching the English, so I wanted to experience that culture for myself.
Why did you choose this university and what is your memorable experience at the university?
I chose the University of Sussex mainly because of the course. I have always been interested in psychology, but my work experience is in marketing. So, I wanted to find a programme that combines both areas.
At first, I was torn between choosing pure Psychology or pure Marketing. Luckily, P’Joy from One Education introduced me to this programme, which perfectly blends both fields. It really opened my eyes to the possibility of combining my interests with my professional experience. Otherwise, I might have chosen a more traditional path.
Why did you choose this course?
I chose MSc Marketing and Customer Psychology for two main reasons. First, I have a genuine interest in psychology, especially in understanding people’s thoughts and emotions and analysing their behaviours.
Second, I previously worked in market research, which made it easier to connect my passion with my professional background. This way, I can build on what I already know rather than starting from scratch.
How will your degree help your future career after graduation?
I believe this degree will help me better understand customer needs on a deeper level. I can apply this knowledge whether I choose to work in a company or run my own business.
It will also help me create better customer experiences, improve satisfaction, and build long-term relationships, which can lead to stronger brand loyalty and business growth.
What did you like the most about our service and your counsellor?
One Education was incredibly supportive. For someone working in agency or consulting roles like me, work and personal life often overlap, making it difficult to manage everything. Without their help in coordinating, finding suitable courses, reminding me about deadlines, and pushing me through each step, I honestly don’t think I would have applied this year. I’m truly grateful for their support in helping me achieve this dream before turning thirty. For anyone who is currently working and struggling to find time, I highly recommend reaching out to One Education. They genuinely support you through every step. No matter how many questions you have or how indecisive you feel, they will help guide you towards the right decision.
Don’t let your dreams remain just dreams. Take the first step and make them happen.
