Please introduce yourself – what did you study before going to the UK?
I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering (International Programme) at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang.
Why did you choose to study in the UK?
I decided to pursue further studies in the UK because I felt burnt out from work and realised that my previous role wasn’t quite the right fit for me. During the COVID period, I had been working from home for over a year as a Data Engineer, with experience in both front-end and back-end development for around two years. This led me to reconsider my path and eventually decide to study abroad.
The UK stood out because Master’s degrees can be completed in just one year (or slightly over), whereas other countries typically require at least two years. I also felt that the more intensive nature of UK programmes would help me build stronger discipline, responsibility, and time management skills.
Why did you choose this university and what impressed you during your studies?
Initially, I chose based on the city rather than the university, as I knew I would be living there for at least a year. I wanted to be somewhere I truly enjoyed. I eventually chose Newcastle — and it turned out to be the perfect decision.
Newcastle is a vibrant city with everything you need. It’s not too big, yet not too small, and very easy to get around on foot. The city has a lively atmosphere, even at night, with plenty of restaurants, shops, entertainment venues, and international grocery stores — including places where I could easily find ingredients for Thai cooking.
After choosing the city, I selected Northumbria University. It offered a strong ranking among universities I could apply to without requiring IELTS (as my decision was quite last-minute). The university is located right in the city centre, making it very convenient for daily life. It’s also known for providing excellent support to international students.
Why did you choose this course?
Initially, I was interested in programmes related to psychology and investment, but suitable options were limited. After comparing courses, I considered International Finance, but since I enrolled in the January intake and that programme wasn’t available, I chose a Finance programme instead.
In fact, the course covered even more modules than the international option, making it equally — if not more — comprehensive.
How has your degree helped your career after graduation?
One of my main goals in coming here was to explore my career direction, so I’m still figuring out my next steps. However, with my background in software engineering, I believe there will be strong opportunities in roles that combine IT and finance.
Even if I don’t pursue this field directly, studying finance has given me valuable knowledge that I can apply to managing my own finances and making better decisions in the future.
How did our service and team help you with your study abroad journey?
The team at One Education were incredibly kind and supportive throughout the entire process. They guided me step by step, reminded me of important deadlines, and helped prepare all necessary documents.
They also compared different courses, universities, and cities for me — including entry requirements and options for IELTS waivers — and coordinated closely with universities on my behalf. I even had the opportunity to speak with university representatives to better understand which course suited me best.
Their support felt very personal, like having older siblings helping me through the process. I chose One Education because several of my friends had used their services, and that gave me confidence — and they truly lived up to it.
