The North-East region has some very popular Universities grouped in a couple of areas, those in or near the city of Newcastle and those located throughout the county of Yorkshire.
Within the city of Newcastle are two University neighbours, in places they are separated by just a few buildings. This fantastic city hosts Newcastle University (141 in QS World rankings, 2021) and Northumbria University (a University since 1992 and was considered the best Young University in the UK, Times 2020). A short train ride away, students are often inspired by the wonderful Durham University (ranked 6th in the UK, Times 2021)
Moving across the region to the UK’s largest county – Yorkshire – students are spoilt for choice with a number of the country’s top Universities in ranking and reputation. Russell group Universities include the University of Leeds, University of York, University of Sheffield. The popular student city of Sheffield also hosts Sheffield Hallam University.
